Safes Opened in Sunderland

We open key, dial and electronic safes across Sunderland when combinations are lost, locks fail or a property changes hands.

Locked out of your own safe

It happens more than you'd think. A combination written on a scrap of paper that's long gone. A dial lock that's seized after years sitting untouched in a back bedroom in Fulwell. A digital keypad that's thrown an error code and won't respond to anything. Or you've moved into a place in Hendon or Silksworth and there's a safe bolted to the floor that the previous owner apparently forgot to mention.

Whatever's brought you to this point, the contents are still in there and you need them out without destroying the safe itself. That's where we come in.

How we actually open it

We've been doing this across Sunderland since 2014, covering everything from small home safes in Roker and Pennywell to heavier commercial units in Sunderland City Centre and out towards Washington and Seaham. Every job starts the same way: we look at the make and model, assess the lock condition, and try manipulation before anything else.

Manipulation is exactly what it sounds like. It's a technical, patient process of working the lock mechanism through its own tolerances until it releases. No damage, no noise, and the safe comes out of it in the same condition it went in. Brands like Sentry, Burton and Chubb each have their own quirks, and experience matters here.

When manipulation genuinely isn't an option, whether because the lock is damaged, seized or a type that doesn't lend itself to the technique, we move to controlled drilling. This isn't guesswork. We drill to a specific point, minimising the damage to the safe body, and we carry a range of replacement lock components so that in most cases we can refit a working lock on the same visit. The safe doesn't become scrap.

We cover key safes, dial safes and electronic keypad models. If yours is something unusual, just ring us on 0191 349 6413 and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a job we can take on.

What to expect on cost and timing

Pricing is labour plus parts plus VAT, and we'll quote you over the phone once you've described the safe to us. As a rough guide, straightforward manipulation jobs start from a lower base than drilling work, which carries additional parts costs if a replacement lock mechanism is needed. We don't believe in turning up and then revealing a surprise figure.

For most addresses across the SR postcodes we can get to you the same day, often within a couple of hours. Response times to Houghton-le-Spring, Hetton-le-Hole or out past Boldon may vary slightly depending on our schedule, but we'll always give you a realistic arrival window rather than a vague promise.

One thing to be clear about: we open safes, we don't supply or install them. If the outcome of the job is that you decide you need a newer or larger unit, we can point you towards a specialist safe supplier, but that side of things sits outside what we do.

FAQ

Yes, this is one of the most common calls we get from across the SR2 and SR3 areas. Previous owners often forget to pass on combinations, or simply don't know them themselves. We'll come out, assess the safe model, and work through it methodically, manipulation first, drilling only if there's no other way.
